The Rainbow And The Promise
Have you ever observed a rainbow that
Was not always beautiful in all its glory?
If all were to describe this special event,
I would dare say there’d be many a story.
The showers that come can be frightening
And even downright dangerous sometime;
But at the end of the thunder and lightening
When the sun breaks thru, you will find
A rainbow displaying such radiant colors:
Red and yellow, green and certainly blue;
The colors seem to show forth God’s glory
And for me one day, this was certainly true.
Following an ambulance to a distant hospital
With my son so seriously hurt inside;
And on approaching a city of strangers,
I felt so alone, no one in whom to confide.
When I lifted my eyes to the heavens…and
There saw a rainbow of such beautiful color,
I immediately realized that no storm had preceeded
And then I also realized what it was there for.
My God was telling me in words so clear
Not to worry, He was there and in control;
Immediately my fear turned to courage, and
Allowed the Holy Spirit my heart to console.
He was there with us in the weeks that followed
Healing eventually came, and life resumed,
So the rainbow is special to me now and always,
And no longer is its significance ever assumed.
