On Fighting

For a thousand years beyond thousands more
The killings number countless score
And in spite of what the fighting's wrought
There seems to be no lesson taught.
Nor has there been no answer learned
As the logic of what's right is burned,
Burned upon the fire that's fed
By thousands beyond thousands dead.
