Lost Innocence

I was told of far away places across the seas
Where love reigned supreme, a paradise of peace.
Your voice was mellifluous nectar in my ear
I stepped into your boat knowing no fear.
I said my goodbyes and cut my mooring
And fell into the trap, set by your luring.

Thinking you were part of me and I was part of you
And to your own self, how could you be untrue,
I trusted the deceptive words on your lips
Till half way across you decided to switch ships.
I am stranded in mid sea without an oar
Far from land, amidst the ocean's roar...

Should I be bitter or lay thanks at your door
For making me wiser and innocent no more ?
