Just You and Me

When I first started courting you
It was fun and frolic without a care
We revelled in wit and repartees too
And the world seemed right for us to share.

We wrote notes and exchanged views
Sometimes serious, most times not
It all felt like a summer cruise
With ever blue skies and care free thoughts.

As it happens when like minds meet
There is always, oh, that unknown pull
Suddenly, there's yearning sad and sweet
And the heart feels empty, yet so full.

We talked of walking mind in mind
About cosmic dust and mutual space
In truth, we felt we were one of a kind
And knew our hearts were set ablaze.

Thank God, we didn't agree all the time
Have sometimes felt hurt by jestful words
But, knew we belonged like meter and rhyme
And when to smile and sheath our swords.

We now ask each other "Is this love?"
As if we can decipher love's true meaning
We just feel close like a hand in a glove
And cannot deny this blissful feeling.

The joy of living has come alive
And beckons us with a compelling force
Yield to it, we'll in happiness thrive
And dare to open the heaven's doors.
