Encounter

Unannounced she entered,
Radiating compulsion
Urging layer upon layer
Of my dormant feelings
To burst forth and be free
Overwhelming
The logical man within me.

I felt the brush of her silken scarf
Upon my face
Bedazzled, I witnessed
My transformation
To a colour drenched butterfly
Testing its radiant wings
In flight, soaring,
In a world of arresting
Tints and images.

When she smiled
I knew I was besotted,
Had lost control.
Cradled in her arms
I plumbed my soul and found
expressions
Of emotions I knew not before.

She wrenched my guts
And then soothed them with balmy
bliss.
In utter surrender,
I offered days to her altar
And sleepless nights in
Finding the right words to please.

Often, irrational fear shrouded my
heart
Lest she forsake me as whimsically
As she had found me.
Finally, when the deed was done,
The poem written,
She smiled enigmatically,
My muse.
