DOPPELGANGER

Love made me weak,
It made me beg, it made me plead,
It gave me life it gave me death,
It ripped me open it made me bleed.

I have no use for this puny emotion,
Where I have to grovel like a cur,
I will learn to hate again,
My trophy will be your slur.

You taught me how to love,
Now teach me how to hate,
Friend, guide and philosopher,
My teacher and my mate.

Teach me how to prey the unwary,
To stalk and pounce and kill,
Remove all vestiges of softness,
So I may my promise fulfill.

My promise to myself that,
I will learn again to hate,
I learnt to love you early,
But even now it’s not too late.

You crowned me with a diadem,
A tiara made of barbs,
Now let me crown you with your spikes,
And dress you in fine garbs.

Clothe you in the colour red,
Ruby as these tears that flow,
Ceaselessly I care not,
To me, they are my halos glow.

Love and hate walk hand in hand,
Twins born of the mother same,
She’s breathing now, living here,
Only, you changed her name.
