DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

What is life? But a fragile link
One following the last, breath upon breath
Holding the spirit captive within
Today I am here, not a being
A name, an image, a voice without a face
Tomorrow I disappear into vapour,
Smoke from a pyre, gone, without a trace
Hold me tight, I do not want to die
So much to live for, but yet, I yearn to fly
Soar high up into the midnight sky,
To the dark side of the moon.
Between passion and morality, my breathing strewn
The heart beats fast, its rhythm extreme
Knife me quick, slit this throat, stab me clean
Cut out this weakly pulsating heart
I give you my life; it has long kept us apart
Obliterate this desire make the hurting leave
Like an ethereal, pale shadow in eternal grief
On an imaginary ocean of pretence
In a world of make believe,
Sight obscured in shadows so dense
Never to meet, the longing remains
The craving returns, the pain begins
Behind reality sensual sensation
God of the underworld, my obsession
Figment of imagination, demon of the mind
Leave… be not so cruel, unkind
Give me back my smile, my carefree days
Of laughter and joy and light filled ways
Innocence lost reverse this quirk of fate
Raise the blade make it swift last not late
A bright red spray smelling hot and sweet
Anointing both, my hands and feet
Beauty incarnate I turn to look
The first word in my unwritten book
In letters of blood my name inscribed
I sleep at last by the God embraced.
