Cast a Shadow

As we walk along the sandy beach and gaze out into the bay,
We dream of other days and other years, when once we came this way,
The sun keeps shining brightly, against the waves that come and go,
The sea gulls wildly, screaming, cast their shadow far down below.
The surf was loudly pounding; the chill was slightly coming in,
Stars were gleaming brightly, seeing the ships come in again,
Casting mighty shadows, as their masts stood proud and tall,
We stood silently, watching, as tho time had not passed at all.
What, were we just very young, and couldn't wait to go to sea?
Or was it just the magic shadows that were cast on you and me?
Looking at the Light House; standing lonely over yonder,
Clouds came rolling in, bringing the lightening and claps of thunder.
When will we come here again, will we be old and growing gray?
It's where we fell in love my dear; can we really ever stay away?
One day we'll cast a giant shadow, when we tell our only son,
But please dear, not till he's much older, for fear to sea he'll run.
