BUSINESS AS USUAL

The world has changed in many ways,
And so have people too,
Now a days unconditional love,
Comes with an MOU.

If you are to be my friend,
Want to be by my side,
Here’s a list of do’s and don’ts,
With which you must abide.

Don’t make any demands on me,
Where or why don’t ask,
Even if you were with longing to die,
Do it quietly in the dark.

Don’t be judgmental of me,
Do not look too deep,
Even If I do not speak to you,
Or call you for few weeks.

Don’t think that I trust you,
Not utter the word for god’s sake,
For what is faith in this rotten age,
When everyone’s a fake.

Don’t ever pose a question,
And never an answer expect,
Do not be such a fool,
Try and use your intellect.

You must always be able,
To read what’s in my mind,
Even if the words confuse,
And the right behaviour find.

To add to all this insult
The clinching shot is best
There is even a provision for
Failing the acid test

The trouble with all these people,
With Management degrees manned,
Think that friends should be,
In different canisters canned.

All neatly arranged in rows,
Sealed with shiny tops,
Rolling over assembly lines,
Which they can “ON” and “OFF”.

All this bunkum, all this rot,
Can go straight to hell,
What means friendship if,
One is constantly ringing bells.

Alarm bells of suspicion,
Which tinkle all the while,
Take your friendship and stuff it,
Can’t live with all this guile.

There is also disappointment,
To think friends can be so trite,
Drawing up contracts of this nature,
Is like offering slight.

Sorry pal, we are amused,
Exploding with unconcealed mirth,
When you turn around and bemusedly ask,
Why you have no friends on earth.
