A Lad And His Lass

She sees a handsome gentleman,

Sitting in his easy chair,

The keen blue eyes and laughter lines,

the thatch of dark, wavy hair.

He sees the girl he loves so well,

Beautiful still, through his eyes,

Sees those dark brown tresses,

He feels the bond that ties.

She sees the man who holds her love

Give her his special smile,

Taking her hand he kisses it,

Watching her all the while.

The firelight's glow is kind to them

Years have been no intrusion,

Both still remain, the lad and lass

To them it's no illusion.

Perhaps he doesn't look so tall,

Perhaps their hair is grey,

But the love burns just as brightly,

As upon their wedding day.
