Word Play

Dark sky was all there was
All around me
Unrelieved dreary gloom
And endless monotony

Into this drab picture
Came your glittering word play
Amusing and enchanting -
A brilliant fireworks display

You breezed in with sparkling wit
And set my mind ablaze
I am refreshed & recharged,
Awhirl and in a daze.

Numb, jaded senses
Have been jolted awake;
I feel alive again
After a long break.
