WILDERNESS
Wilderness
holds no deception
Everyone follows rules
Even the lowliest of creatures
Know it is no place for fools.
Relentlessly the weak are culled,
The strong and wily survive
That is the way nature works
To keep the worthy alive.
When I met you the first time
I forgot this basic law
I was in love head over heels
I was blind to the hidden claw.
The way you prowled around me
And purred and pawed, I thought
I would be your life mate
And it was happiness you sought.
We courted with fervour
With proper mating calls
For everyone in the outside world
We were the greatest pals.
You mated as in wilderness
With no love in your mind
That is the way you ensured
You multiplied your kind.
It was not then love at all
What you felt for me
It was just a breeding call
That really held the key.
I was just a tool then
To fill your empty womb
For finer feelings in your heart
There really was no room.
Now that the deed is done
I am cast aside as trash
While you lick and tend your little ones
I bleed from the brutal gash.
I forgot the nature's primal law
I pay a dear and heavy price
It is the wild and wily in the end
Who manage to survive.
