TWILIGHT
Come to me, my son put your head in my lap each day I wish you will stop by yes, with an eternal hope don't make me wait more, my son.
I think of times gone by when you held my hand as I wiped your tears yes, with these wrinkled hands don't flinch from them now, my son.
When I stayed awake at night eyes sightless with worry while fever raged in your young body yes, with these rheumy eyes don't look away now, my son.
When we ran carefree as the wind and each time you stumbled carrying you didn't feel a weight yes, on these gaunt legs don't think them a burden now, my son.
When you cried for no reason and sleep left me each time and I would sing your lullaby yes, that song is now a cough don't let it disturb you, my son.
We wished upon a star spoke to fairies and built castles wish I could give to you yes, all my remaining days don't ever grow old, my son.
There's not much time left the candle almost gone can you see my shaking hand raised in silent blessing don't reject it now, my son...
