Time to Forget

Why do I try so hard to remember,
When it's so much easier to forget?
I've even found it so very difficult,
To erase the mem're of when we met.

It's time to put all this behind me,
To put all the little reminders away;
I know now, what was there is gone,
From his heart, at least, I can say.

Time to move on with my life, not
Looking back to the past as before;
Though Painful, it can be accomplished,
Step from past to future.. and close the door.

From time to time, a mem'ry sneaks back in,
In the form of a poem, song, or phrase;
These things can be a rare pleasure at times,
Bringing reminders of our 'special' days.

No regrets.. I'll always cherish his mem'ry,
And at times take a trip down mem'ry lane;
But for now the future is a sweet mystery,
I have nothing to lose.. everything to gain.
