Things I Would Like

Things don't always happen to our liking,
Disappointment sometimes rules the day;
I will tell you what I would really like
If things could only happen this way:

I would like to see this world of ours
Be rid of the violence and disease;
I would like for peace among all men..
For once let our minds be at ease.

I would like to see the bitterness end
Between those with different colors of skin;
Living together in such perfect harmony..
Allowing the healing of the soul to begin.

I would like to see our streams and rivers
Once again flowing, waters pure and clean;
Rid of disease and pollution.. fit for bathing..
Picnics along the banks.. wading in the stream.

I would like to see our country pull together,
Allowing all within its shores to survive;
Sharing our wisdom and wealth with others,
Aware of each others needs to stay alive.

I would like to see the family unite together,
Working side by side, peacefully...satisfied
To be working for their future generations..
That they might look back, bursting with pride.

Last, but not least, but at the top of the list..
The end of child abuse I would like to see;
I would like all to shelter these little ones
From a world of such deviation and misery.

Who knows? These things may come to pass..
Making a difference only takes a very few;
One by one we could clean up this planet..
Scourging it clean....making it good as new!
