The  Flirt

Ok, so he's a wonderful lover
And he's a wonderful guy
Even though I don't like him
It's something I won't deny

But look at the way
That he lives his life
In bohemian indulgence
And can't afford a wife

He has all the time
To feed your need for romance
Paint pretty pictures
And take you out for a dance

But does he love you
Though he may pretend
That his love is sublime
The ordinary transcend

You lap up his lies
Like a cat eating cream
He knows the right phrases
That will make you dream

But will he be there
In your hour of need
I really doubt it
So please take heed

He's just poet
Who feeds on your love
And a selfish monster
Though he coos like a dove

He also dances with others
And doesn't hide it from you
So that you believe
That he is always true

It's yet another ploy
To gain your trust
So that you believe him
And give in to his lust

You simply don't know
You are just another toy
That he is playing with
A few moments to enjoy

Of course you can't see that
You're so blind in your faith
Someday you'll wake up
But it might be too late

By then he'll be gone
And seem like a dream
A chimera oasis
Or a fleeting moonbeam
