I
STOLE THE MOON
You
must have seen the moon vanish,
from full nourish, to teeming famish,
frowning silence, cease and banish.
And no one knew, that I was there.
While the sun was still flaming,
and the radiance enervating,
I covered the moon, for an allure,
cloaked the lover light, to an obscure,
kept it to myself, and I was sure,
that I could use it for every cure,
I knew when the sun would exuviate,
my larceny would defoliate,
but I saw requital in all the bliss,
osculating lovers, in passionate kiss,
eye lids closed, light they wouldn’t miss
grand thievery, not gone amiss.
And no one knew, that I was there.
As if I had the answers to all,
when trapped in pain of abysmal,
now I could trade the precious light,
had a proxy, to serve a plight.
Sure enough, on coming day,
as we assented to a promise,
I knew, that I would breach it,
you asked for the sun,
I knew, I couldn’t reach it.
So here, I brought you the moon,
I knew, that you could teach it,
to have a set, and have a rise,
with sanctity, and no demise,
with a roar of gale, give it some dust,
with a wail of flare, give it some gust,
give it a halo, and a ring of light,
give it your glare, and make it bright,
and it shall be the eminent orb,
will turn the nights, to days of hope.
