The Shadow Of The Light

When beauty hides the ethereal grace,
I don’t see the shining stars,
But the amazing wonder of space,
Not the brightness of galactic pulsars,
But the Zodiac lines I can trace,
Not the leader of seven flying ducks,
But the wonder of the orderly chase,
Not the content of the surprising boon,
The nisus in sheath, colors of bobbin lace,
Brittleness of humming bird wings,
And not the wonder of their pace,
Not the condors hatching eggs,
But their choice of a nesting place,
Perhaps not the cherished red rose,
But the wine glass used as vase,
Not the bitterness of tears,
But the feelings they displace,
Not what the lovers would say,
But the language in their brace,
Not the sentiment uttered in words,
But the hankering look in their face.
