PERFECTION

Ten tiny fingers ten tiny toes,
A pink rose bud mouth.
With a small upturned nose,
Black curly hair framing
A delicate face, charming the viewer
Their first, fleeting gaze.
Creamy white skin, not a blemish to mar
Perfection in every small detail so far
Gold bangles adorn her fragile wrists
Black shoes cover her dangling feet
A frilly pink frock hides
The baby body inside
Tendrils of black creeping down her back
Picture pretty there is nothing she lacks
Gold rimmed glasses over sparkling gems
Dreamy and gentle,
But quaint through the lens
The eyes are not focused,
They struggle to find.
The sound of her mother,
A voice in her mind.
She feels the touch,
Of hands she knows well.
Her lips smile showing
Of happiness they tell.
As soothing hands lift her
Firm and strong.
I see and I ask,
How god could be wrong?
This angel child this perfect shape
Strapped in a chair, for, as life is long.
She laughs she smiles she reaches up to find
The face of the woman whose voice reminds
She is cherished and loved and always near
Forever and ever she need never fear.
