Miracles

Expecting a miracle? Don’t scoff now, please,
But consider the wonders in each one of these:
A tiny baby’s perfect hands,
The waves upon the sun-drenched sands,
The tendeness of love’s first kiss
And when the thousandth still brings bliss,
Sunsets that each day are new,
A hundred different shades of blue,
The sweetness when a small child sings,
The power in a hummingbird’s wings,
The genius of Mozart and Handel,
The light shed by a single candle,
And words with which you may impart
The thoughts and feelings of your heart.

I need no parting of the sea.
Each day brings wonderment to me.
Some think miraculous things mundane,
As if what science can explain
Could not be a gift from God,
But I must find this viewpoint odd.
All beauty is a gift of love,
A blessing from the Lord above;
And if He blesses us each day,
That’s just because it is His way
To give to us abundantly.
If we are willing, we can see
His hand in everything, and give
Our thanks to Him each day we live
For miracles that are all around
And, if expected, can be found.
