I shall not weep

I shall not weep.
Neither today, nor tomorrow.
Deep within my waning heart,
I sift through this
soul consuming sorrow,
seeking logic.

They say you had fallen
to martyrdom somewhere.
White snow, in compassion,
had failed to cover
the cruel mosaic
of the red tinged valour.
Nipped in bloom.

They spoke in hushed tones
of your honour, bravery and more.
Clutching the little hand of our pride and joy,
scarcely hearing what was spoken and said,
I just stood there benumbed to the core.
Accentuated agony.

My head resting on my knees,
nights on end I now sit.
Like a candle shedding wax,
grief drips in my heart
in the flame of your memory.

Soaked in pain
and wrenched by loss,
I call your name.
Yet, I shall not weep.
Neither today nor tomorrow.
