Grain of sand

I sometimes wonder
If you are even aware
Did you make us
Or were we simply there
Are you real
Or something we'd like
To explain existence
And this life

I look at ants
In their life engrossed
Do they notice us
Or simply lost
In a world so small
Where us they can't see
For them a puddle
A mighty sea

They don't know us
But they are aware
Of our presence
Which is always there
Providing sustenance
Inadvertently
And believing
That we created their tree

And when we tread on them
Or destroy their hill
In their stoic acceptance
Believe it's god's will
So are we mere germs
In your mighty land
And the world we know
Just a small grain of sand
