ECLIPSE

Suddenly the black circle forms

an unnatural darkness all around

birds choke themselves in mid-cry

stillness makes an eerie sound.

A werewolf takes an icy hold

and madness reigns supreme

shrill voices make their bold foray

and its scary even to dream.

It is then their gallop starts

wild horses run amok again

mouths working up a dry froth

their hooves pounding my brain.

Writhing in servile agony

powerless to stop their greed

I wait for the raven to fly

for the raging fever to recede.

Amidst the mayhem, a tear falls

its salt showing a milky way

the terror of the night is cleansed

and sunlight heralds a bright new day.
