Echoes in the air

I was walking in a
Mountain range
Every step cushioned
By fallen leaves
Wooded with eucalyptus
And lush evergreens
Half visible, half concealed
Like a mystery only partly revealed.
In an interplay of mist and rays
Casting patterns on dim lit ways.
Lost, I was, but did not care,
Basking in a mood so rare.

Overcome by nature's magic
I called in joy
And an echo came
Undistorted and pure of sound
Carried gently in the wings of air.
Like young at heart
I found pleasure
In that echo
In the mountain range.

It felt like breathing
Ozone air
Charged and heady
Beyond compare
A simple echo though it was,
In a different cadence, different tone,
All too familiar, yet unknown
At once compelling, yet sublime
Sounding like a clear bell chime.

Echoes can touch,
Echoes can sway,
And, lingering in our hearts forever stay,
Was it you? Or was it me?
Or was it an echo between you and me?
In awe, I found in that mountain place
A rare touch smilingly God displayed.
