Doubts

The eagle flies
With its face against the wind
Miles and miles
To find succour for its brood.
Embedded instinct
Spurs its flight
Without doubt.

The child crosses
The heavy traffic
With a spring in her step
Holding her mother's finger
Calmed by the instinct
Of trust and security
Without doubt.

The saint sits
In silent prayer
Seeking God
And the meaning of truth
Convinced by his faith
And innate instinct
Without doubt.

Where as,
You, my love,
Spurn your instincts
A thousand times
And plague your heart
Time and again
With so many
Doubts.
