Building Castles in the Sand

I saw you thinking

heard your thoughts whoosh through your mind

chin on clenched fist

elbow on knee

cross legged

sitting on a washed up log

half sunk in the wet sand.

The tide whooshed with your reasonings

was as if you both were thinking on the same lines

inter-acting

as do the stars and moon with astrologists.

I ached to join in

but was refused access

was not a registered member

had no user-name nor password

so I played in the sand

building castles

eyeing your soft

naked

beautifully white form

perched on that rough

black

ugly piece of driftwood

wishing you'd glance my way

see the need in my eyes

but you were still travelling the universe

you'd not yet

entered the earth's atmosphere

so I waited

and waited patiently for touchdown

building castles in the sand.
