A Calm Holy Night

Early this morning I was alone…all was quiet,

Peace abundantly entered and flooded my soul

As a Christmas carol was quietly playing, the

Words and music seemed destined to console:

Silent night’…tells of a time long ago, that

Holy night’…when our Savior was born.

All is calm’…even animals in the stable,

Along with the three wise men quietly looked on.

All is bright’…as the Eastern star lit the way.

Standing ‘round the virgin mother and child,’

Lives were changed as they humbly kneeled, to

View the ‘Holy infant so tender and mild.’

Even the shepherds were told of his coming,

The night must have had magic in the air,

The streets were bustling with hundreds of people,

Little did they know…little did they care.

A stable was chosen for the birthing place, as

A miracle came forth mid the warmth of the hay,

The One that can heal the  heart and make it whole

Came with love for all on that first Christmas day.

Prayers will be lifted this: another Christmas season,

That war and hatred would all one day cease,

As we think of the final words of that well-known carol,

Then perhaps all of us will ‘Sleep in heavenly peace.’
