God loves all his children

But some are oh so special

They may not be as smart or clever

But they are God's treasure.

The Sports Association held Special Olympics

For these special children

While all the events were a pleasure

One is simply unforgettable!

It was a race for these special ones

All eyes on them were riveted

Wondering whether they would be able to make it!

Get, set, go... began the race

And they started running to win the first place

Midway the tiniest tumbled... grazed his knee

His anguished expression all could see.

He let out a heart wrenching scream

Down came crashing all his dreams

He had been training to run for a year

But his hard work just ended in tears.

The other nine were way ahead

Just stopped running and turned around instead!

Helped the tiny one to get up

Wiped his tears and cheered him up.

Then they all ran while holding hands

And together reached the victory stand.

They all got a standing ovation

And there were many wet eyes in the stadium.

Caring, sharing, brotherhood, compassion

They taught us smart and clever ones a lesson,

Yes, these special children were autistic

Yet all were winners - all ten gold medalists.
