VANISHING EARTH

THOSE monstrous machine are marauding

Savagely into the green fields

Their rolling, rumbling and thundering

Echo beyond the distant hills.

Mother Earth has fallen to their mercy

Her natural tapestry so vibrant and rich

Raped and ravaged so ruthlessly

Naked and bare, her sanctity is stripped.

No more lush green carpet to lie on

With your beloved to cuddle and kiss.

No more serenade of twittering songs

Whistling sweetly in the soft breeze.

No more glorious morning sing-along

Of crowing cockerels and cackling geese.

No more butterflies merrily dancing on

Beautiful blooming buttercups or lilies.

When our Earth is covered with steel and concrete,

Where can we enjoy the great poetry of Nature?

How can we produce vegetables, grain and meat?

What do our countrymen have left for their future?
