The Presidential
Election
Part 1: The Debate
We are beset by issues today
With no solution in sight
Dilemmas that cannot be measured
By what is wrong or right
Will foreign policy at last prevail
Over domestic genocide
Or will we abandon those in need
To halt economic suicide.
Will abortion erode all evidence of
Future generations to come
Or pro-life sow the deadly seeds
Of Poverty yet to come
Will the constitution grant us all
The right to live in liberty
Or let us enjoy our own freedom
By subjugating those already free.
Will faith prevail over beliefs
To create the bonds of unity
Or let the faithful stand united
Against the beliefs of the minority
Will union between a couple then
Be only as man and wife
Or will two people of the same sex
Still have to live in strife.
Each candidate sings to his own tune
But can't tell right from wrong
And even though the music may stop
Not so the dance and song.
Part 2 : The Vote
We've pondered on each issue
And said all there is to say
So how will the vote be cast
When its time on election day.
So listen well as I relate
The shape of things to come
The prophecy is prophetic indeed
And only known to some.
Eighty percent of all who vote
Forty, will Republicans sway
And Democrats too will gain indeed
Forty percent that day
And each of the forty will vote
Not so for issues at stake
But for the party they're loyal to
Albeit a serious mistake.
Of the twenty percent left to vote
Ten will ponder to the end
Will it be Republican or Democrat
Who will our nation, mend
And these are the few who will
In the end have their way
And seal the future of the eighty percent
By winning the election that day
And what of the final ten percent
Well they'll sleep through election day
And simply ask when they wake up
So whose our president today.
