Restraint

Lined with thick kohl
To hide the red rims
Swollen with unshed tears
And emptiness they brim
Dead sleep plenty they had
Then why do they burn and strain
Is the burden of grief so heavy
That they swell under its restrain
There is still a sparkle in them
As the lamplight catches a glint
But it is the shimmer that deceives
Giving of the anguish only a hint
She sits huddled alone on the couch
Staring blankly into nothingness
Slowly repeating to herself silently
Stop loving him, end this foolishness
They darken as they hear her silent command
Threaten to overflow and break the dam
Suddenly a moisture seeps on her cheeks
Coursing downwards breaking the calm
The more they empty of their burden
The more heavier they grow
As if the well feeds on an unending source
Till drenched she sits under their unrelenting blow…
