Taking your words literally, meant-
"We will never depart"

I used to dream of days we would be together
In each other's arms, forever.
I would close my eyes and
Hear ourselves saying." I do"
But life had to offer something new.

Sitting next to you
Listening to what you had to say
Shattered my dreams in every possible way
Sitting close to you
I found myself miles away...
Whom I was sitting with? You or a stranger?
Forever now seemed as if never.

How badly I wanted you to look into my eyes
And see the pain you caused to me
But you were too reluctant to look at me
For you knew what you were saying was painful
And without you, my life would be awful.

But-
Still you had to go away...
I still remember as if it was yesterday.
Sitting on your bedside, holding your hand
Made me wish I could hold the slipping sand

Unfortunately,
Death knocked on the door before happiness could
And I knew I should let you go as soon as I could
But, still,
Sometimes memories rush back to me
Making their way into my heart,
The most sensitive part of me.
And I say to myself...
"Though he is dead we can never depart"
You promised to be with me
...till death do us apart
And perhaps that was what God said Amen to
And decided to drift us apart...

But, sometimes,
I still feel your presence around
And hear you speak even in absence of sound
I know you are still here
And would be, forever...
That's when...
Never becomes Forever
