Is It Time I Ask Myself…
Is it time I ask myself Time to finally draw the curtain down And bid the yearning goodbye And resettle whichever way into the old life
Is it time to remove those tints Those crimson hues that have coloured Every single breath that I take And have flowed liberally through my veins
How long can I continue to yearn And keep telling myself that it matters not When just beneath the surface In my empty aloneness I keep bleeding freely
Is it time I ask myself To gather myself and finally stand erect To let fall those arms That have been for so long outstretched
The pain is unbearable The gathering of crumbs heartbreaking How long can I sing my songs For now my voice is hoarse and aching
You still offer friendship so clearly And always have; but my heart won’t hear That our worlds will remain apart And with me you can just share a tiny part
So is it time I ask myself Time to shut the chapter Perhaps mark it with a feather And store the volume on a shelf, far beyond reach
Is it time I ask myself?
