IN THE FACE OF TIME

It hurts to see you change
and it hurts even more
when everything seems strange
in my own heart's core.

I swim against the mighty tide
lucid tears drip from my eyes
I try but my pain I cannot hide
Coz I once dreamt of paradise

In my mind an ugly scar
Yet a smile I've worn.
I've lived two lives so far
between the two I'm torn

 I know you'll say it isn't fair
to let go of this God-given life
But you no longer seem to care
And I can no more bear this strife.

I'm no more a white angel
I have my shades of gray
I have ugly demons in me
that I keep wishing away.

I die, my helpless silence screams
I know you'll say it's a crime,
It's the end of me and my dreams.
Yet only a wrinkle in the face of time.
