A Drop

Long ago it was dark and I was translucent

Drained of all colours, stumbling along

When all of a sudden, unwittingly

From your crimson soul fell a drop

And instantly mingled with me

Alarmed you were when you did realise

That an overflow there had been

So firmly and instantly capped the surge

So that nothing from you would further seep

And merge into the now awakened me

But the instant it touched my core

It blended within, and changed my hue

Forever…no longer colourless, no longer pale

And though diluted it remains, part of me

For just that single drop has changed me true

Sometimes when all alone I am with myself

And see the pink glow reflecting from within

I realise what you gifted was but by chance

And yet I am changed for eternity

Dyed for life with the drop that you let slide…
