THE ONLY PATH

The taste of the mango salad

That I barely ate, lingers

The gentleness of your grey green eyes

Still gives me strength

The voice of the car attendant

Who expounded your faith

And the quiet smile of pride

On your face, as yet fills my eyes

The feel of your shoulder as I lay

A gentle hand and agreed with him

That you be one of the finest

Tingles my fingers even now

You are engrossed in your world

I remain silently lost in mine

Knowing not which way to turn

For there are no roads that lead anywhere

The only path that glimmers faintly

Is lit by the love of friendship

Be I strong enough to trod it

Holding my fragile heart in hand?
