PRETENSE

Pretense

Do you know my love

That I can stand atop a mountain

And shout of my love so that the winds

Carry it to every corner of the world

Do you know my dear

That through the thick forests and trees

I can share the whispers of my soul

With the flora and the fauna endlessly

To every single person that I meet

On the streets & towns & all around me

Night and day, can I shamelessly

Sing devotedly of my passion for you

Brazenly do I need and want

To reside deep within your warmth

And revel eternally in the never ending love

I feel for you my dearest one; But---

With you, I have to pretend,

Only from you do I need to hide,

That overflowing, overwhelming tide

For fear that, unnerved, you may some day, put me by.
