Fleeting Moment

Sitting there, warming my cold feet

In the slanting rays of the noon sun

That visits my secluded balcony,

I suddenly see a motion picture-

Of your Eyes…

Gazed had I into them many a times

While we had discussed & laughed

Chatted and joked endlessly,

And yet then, had I never drowned

In their depths as I did today by myself

Oft, they reflected the tenderness

You felt at that very moment,

Frequently calm, with a motionless depth

In their beautiful grey-greenness, as

You embroiled yourself in my pain;

They twinkled with your wry humour

Instantly lighting your entire face,

Never danced, but softly hummed,

So friendly, tender, joyous, but too

Pained at my every emotional turn

But for a frozen instant in time that

I have long denied to hail as witnessed,

Telling myself it is but a figment alone,

But for sure…they had looked shaken

As if suddenly confronted with the unknown

In that fleeting moment unmoving in time,

As you wiped the rainbow from your face,

I saw them blanch, as if a new found thrill

Filled and shook you, as never ever before,

Till the veil came down, and it was lost once more…
