God's Sparrow

Here I sit at the top of the tree
Wondering why God would have created little me
I have no brilliant colors for my feathers to show
But I believe that God loves me because he told me so.

I see the golden eagle with all its regal splendor
But it is for this one moment I will long remember
For the singular gift that allows me to fly
And your words, "you will take care of me;" that I cry.

I know I do not soar or have a lilting voice
But that I exist because of your gracious choice
Tho I may appear to have thoughts that are very narrow
Thank you God; for making me, your beloved sparrow.

For the times I sit on the top of the tallest tree
I know there are others but you truly love; little me.
