Mountain Holiday

All I ask is a few more days

In these ethereal mountains

Whose beauty makes my eyes ache;

Where the sweet crisp cold air

Tells me I’m alive

But my heart says

I’m in heaven.

All I ask is a few more hours

Among these lush lusty trees

That whisper and woo me

And leave old love songs

Playing in my head;

While this wild green grass

Charmingly invites me

To forget myself.

All I ask is a few more minutes

Looking down these timeless valleys

That fill me with awe

And inspire me with thoughts

Of their Creator;

And the grand rugged landscape

Leaves in me a yearning

To fly.

But even as I ask

For a few more seconds

Of this unimaginable bliss

My speeding schedule tells me

That is too much to ask for.
