BATTLE LINES
I loose the battle,
In war I fall,
All that I fought for,
I lost in one call.
The fighting was heavy,
Much at stake I did put,
My life for victory,
But it’s gone with the loot.
Now I limp from the carnage,
No last look for the slain,
All I wish is that,
Among the dead I had lain.
What did god want?
For which he did me pit?
Was it this hour?
As wretched I sit.
No tears can wash,
Or fill my wounded heart,
I pick myself up,
This is the start.
The beginning the end,
All merges in one,
There among the losers,
My place in the sun.
