Unasked For


Tender Moments…

They soar

Freely, unbounded,

Through the air,

Weaving their way

Quietly into the heart

 

They can be,

That lover’s touch

Which leaves us

Gasping, aching,

Longing for more,

Much more

 

Or they can be,

Those instants savoured

Alone, with oneself,

As we watch dusk vanish

And that crimson globe

Sinks into night’s embrace

 

In a dim, lit room

They may wander our way

As we sit, on a couch

Or sprawled lie,

Soaking that song

That makes the heart cry

 

Some came today,

For me and him

When we, as friends, shared

Nothing, but a knowledge

That each had given and taken

Without being asked…when…
