DRIVING OUT ON A LONELY TRACK

DRIVING OUT ON A LONELY TRACK ………

I have been out driving
on a long unending
dusty road
tired
looking at the map
spread out
on my lap

My friend reads out
the map for me
reassures me
we will reach the town
before evening
with that
he offers me a Sandwich
takes one himself,
reclines
and he is off
to sleep

How I wish
I too could sleep
but I have to reach the town
appointments to keep

Bleary eyed, I might be
the road may be without
any bends
the road map
may be old and tattered
I will reach you in the end !

I have been out driving
myself crazy
on a long unending
trip
away from you………

I might possibly be
tired
as I would look at the map
I am certain,
I would find
your face resting
on my lap

Your eyes shall read out
the road map of life for me
shall reassure me
we will stay together
before the day is done

I find my friend
shaking me, waking me
‘Dreamy-eyed, wake up
we have along way to go’

I get up
out of my dreams
let out a sigh
yes !
I have a long way
to go
but I will reach back
to you
because
I LOVE YOU SO………………
