Dear Death,

A fleeting visitor you are known to be
You come and go and we don't even see
After you've claimed what's yours and left
Is when we realize we are empty and bereft
My only plea to you is this
Just take me once, not bit by bit
For, my life I want to live
I want to take, I want to give
A regular visitor I don't want you to be
When each day dies a little of me
So go away, it's not my time
I still have to claim what is mine.
