ONCE UPON A TIME Let me tell you a story Strange though it may seem There lived a lovely princess Near the woods of Aberdeen
She was afraid of goblins Though she merrily played with elves The pixies brought her posies Of pansies and blue-bells
One day she chased a will o’ wisp Down by the little stream She chanced upon an ugly witch And began to scream
The wicked witch got cross with her And cast a wicked spell Turned the princess into a frog And tossed her in a well
The princess cried for mercy All the witch did was to smirk “Find a charming prince to kiss”, she said “maybe that will work”
As the princess sat there croaking And push almost came to shove A handsome prince rode down her path Like an answer from above
The kind prince saw her crying And whoa-ed his steed to stop Got off his horse and on his knees Her heart went flippety-flop
He listened to her tale of woe And almost seemed to melt She could see him puckering up Just to free her of her spell
“Smooch” they went…there was a whoosh Lightening sliced the sudden fog Jeepers Scary Thunderclaps! The prince….was now…a frog!
In a daze they hopped around The crazy witch to find She’d flown fast on her broomstick Laughing off her wrinkled behind
They moaned their fate and cursed in vain As they hopped back to their well Sigh! At least they found true love…and I, This silly tale to tell!!! ~Swati Chandran~
