TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS

Many are a mother’s deeds,

done out of love and concern;

as she meets our daily needs,

and help to ease our burdens.

Often the last to go to sleep,

our own homes, mum strives to upkeep;

that when things are clean and tidy,

loved ones cab be strong and healthy.

True to her calling to motherhood,

mum often does more than she should-

not for herself, but for our good

that we may do more than mum could.

How diverse is a mother’s roles,

who is our teacher, chauffeur and nurse;

our lives she moulds, our hands she holds,

whether things turn better or worse.

Embrace beyond compare, has she,

as warm and gentle as can be;

committed and caring, is she

who will always be mum to me.

Rarely without useful ideas,

mothers also give sound advice

that we may share them within others,

and then find favour in God’s eyes.

Self-assured, and yet supportive,

mum loves to spend time helping dad;

often she remains assertive,

in various events, good or bad.

Daring to sacrifice her time,

mum keeps us far and safe from crime;

she always does her very best

to see us through all trials and tests.

Abounding in mercy and grace,

mothers seldom fail to amaze;

their skills and talents, they nurture

so that we have a bright future.

Yearly, we make mum feel special,

with gifts of love on Mother’s Day;

we pray in tasks, plain or crucial,

that God will bless mum every day.

To all mothers,

I wish a Happy Mother’s Day;

to all others,

I urge you to celebrate this day.
