Those Glowing Embers

Floating, drifting, serene,

Meandering with the current,

And slowly spiralling to the floor,

Submerging in the blue green depths

Lifeless, yet seemingly alive,

Blanched and pale,

Wide eyed, yet asleep,

A part of the wondrous

World of the drowned

Stroked repeatedly

By the pulsating life,

As the fingers of flora encircle,

And my weaving tendrils beckon

Spread wild, while my open eyes

Invite those sinuous creatures to peer

Close; till they hover near enough

And find that those glowing embers

Have finally now died…
