I AM A SUMMER BOY

I sat by the window
Watching the flakes fall
They said it was a blizzard
Did it matter at all?

My first tryst with snow
I was possessed by the sight
For once, color seemed to fade
Before the beauty of the white

I watched and watched
For countless hours
Admiring the snow
Fall in sublime showers

It snowed thick and fast
Through days and nights
And slowly- my eyes grew sore
By the monotony of the whites

I missed the warmth of the sun
I missed the color of bloom
The air seemed stuffed
With dampness and gloom

The incessant snow
I did no longer enjoy
I knew for a fact
That I am a summer boy
