Hero Worship

Today, as I flipped channels to view

I suddenly came face to face

With a younger you

In his sparkling blue eyes I saw

That twinkle that dances in yours

And should be ban-able by law

That small half crooked grin

So like yours, made

My heart once again spin

On hearing his wry wit

Caught myself smiling, as I

Recalled yours, bit by bit

He spoke little, showed not much

But that somber look

Had me again in a clutch

His gentle manners so strong

And words you sometimes use

Echoed and touched me like a song

Deep soulful sighs escape

As I watch again that film

And in that young actor’s mannerisms

I see much of you, and my love brims
