STOLEN CHILD

Have you seen him?
You were here, not long ago
 Resting on these pastel banks.
 Smiling, laughing, living.

 He sat here with friends
 Watching the world.
 More weeping than he knew
Pass by him in the crystal waters

 Where the rocky land dips
A lake sleeps in the woods
 Flapping birds wake
There in the faerie of the wild.

 Then, solemn eyed
 He heard no more sounds
 Peace wouldn't sleep with him.
Or the stillness of undisturbed flesh.

 Damaged and bruised
His kettle sang out in tears,
Settling steam on his heart.
He departed in moonlight glosses.

 Watching the world
 I've seen that boy leave
 Singing peace to him.
In a world full of weeping.
